BOSTON * BEAN TOWN

We arrived at Hanscom AFB Family Camp early on Tuesday October 1.  We will be pulling out next Monday.  We had lots of things we wanted to see in the area.  But due to the government shut down all the National Parks, monuments, etc. are closed.  Great!  Traveled over 3,000 miles for this!  Oh well, we are making the best of it.  The weather has been beautiful, in the high 70's low 80's.  The leaves are a changing!  Still haven't gotten any really good pictures.

We spent all of Wednesday in downtown Boston.
Trying to find a place to park is a real trick.  We finally parked in the third level down under the Ritz Hotel.  Cost us $31.00 for about six hours.  The streets are very narrow and lots of cobblestone.  We decided to do a self guided 2 1/2 mile tour of the highlights of Boston.  It's pretty neat. They call it the Freedom Trail.  You take off from the Boston Common following the red brick path.  We had a map also.

Down the main street they had about 10 of these globes, each one depicting various ecological ideas.  Vern's world was covered with frogs.  The one I am standing by  was a more normal world, one I would prefer!
